Men's paddock boots are used for schooling or saddle seat riding. Men's paddock boots can be found in black or brown leather. This style of boot is shorter than field or dress boots. They should reach just above the rider's ankle. When wearing paddock boots for jumping or hunt seat, the rider should wear a pair of chaps or half chaps to protect legs from pinching or rubbing caused by stirrup leathers. Paddock boots worn with matching leather half chaps give the appearance of tall boots and can usually be worn in schooling horse shows.
