Hobbles are leather or nylon straps that wrap around your horse's front pasterns or cannon bones and connect together. This allows the horse to move in very small steps but not to run off. Hobbles can be useful camping or taking a break on the trail in an open space where there is nowhere to tie your horse. It permits the horse to graze without wondering off too far. A picket hobble is a single hobble that is used to tether the horse to a picket line.
