Horse Western Cinches

Choose From Our Wide Variety of Western Cinches

Traditionally, Western Cinches were made of multiple strains of cording, usually mohair or cotton.  Those traditional cinches are still available and quite popular with many Western riders.

There are other options available, however.  Neoprene has become a very popular material for Western girths, it is soft, and has just enough "give" to keep a horse comfortable.  (Neoprene can get hot, however, so you may want to try some of the perforated versions).  Nylon cinches are also used.  These are very sturdy and will last just about forever.  They can be rough, so consider using a cinch cover with nylon.

Western Cinches are attached to the saddle via latigo straps.  The latigo is attached to the saddle at the dee ring, and then doubled over and attached to the cinch. The right side is usually left connected at all time except for fitting adjustments, with the left side used to take the saddle off and on.
