My trainer offered me the used of a this pelham bit with a bit converter after a lesson on my horse, who happened to be extremely sassy and strong that day. It took me most of the lesson to adapt to getting the correct amount of whoa, but once my horse and I figured it out, I could be lighter. I used a bit converter so did not have to worry with two reins. After a few rides in the pelham, I was able to go back to less bit. I liked the results so much, that I ordered exactly what my trainer let me use, and I now have something I am comfortable bitting up with for new adventures when I need more response to my whoa.
