Fly repellent gels, ointments or roll-ons are for horses that need a more specific type of fly protection. Fly repellents designed for horses are safe to use around areas where fly spray is not appropriate such as around the eyes, ears, poll, muzzle, etc. Products such as Absorbine UltraShield Green Gel is designed to be used in this capacity as well as providing a barrier of protection from flies on open wounds; this gel is made with natural oils and is non-toxic. Roll-on products are designed specifically for convenience to be used in the same capacity. Farnam Endure Roll-On is also sweat resistant and said to last up to 5 to 7 days.
