Spurs

There are endless varieties of spurs available. Western and English riders generally use different types of spurs, based on riding styles. English riders tend to ride with a more constant leg contact, and therefore their spurs tend to be milder. On the other hand Western riders tend to ride with a longer leg, and less contact. Their spurs are somewhat harsher, intended for less frequent use. However, those are generalities and there are huge variations within types of spurs. Your trainer is often your best resource in choosing spurs that match your riding skills and the sensitivity of your horse.

Whips, Crops and Bats
Whips, Crops, and Bats are similar. There are styles that are popular to each discipline - long dressage whips to short jumping bats -and then variations within that. Again, check with your trainer when in doubt! Filter by Discipline on the left if you are unsure which aid is suitable for the discipline your ride.
