When do I wear a stock tie?
Stock Ties are typically worn for formal shows and hunts and may be worn by both women and men.
In
dressage, stock ties are worn for every show and are a staple of proper show attire and are typically white or pale cream in color. Eventers will also use stock ties during the dressage phase.
For
fox hunting, stock ties are worn during formal hunting season and were traditionally a safety item that could be used as either bandage or sling in an emergency. In a nod to this, it is still recommend that stock ties used for the hunt field should be hand tied and not purchased pre-tied.
In
show hunters stock ties are worn in the more formal classes, such as hunter classics and derbies.
Saddleseat riders also wear stock ties during formal shows.
