 Why Choose Field Boots?

A Field Boot is a tall, English riding boot with a laced ankle built into the front of the boot. This enables the rider to adjust the ankle fit, and also makes the boot more flexible in the ankle area. This allows for the shorter stirrup, and more flexed ankle position that is required when jumping fences. Additionally, Field Boots traditionally have a "toe cap," a decorative seam across the front of the foot.

Field Boots are the preferred boots for most riders who jump. They are popular in the show hunter ring, on the cross country field for eventing and in the show jumping arena.

Finding the Right Fit

When measuring for tall boots you'll want to wear your riding pants and socks in order to get the best fit; it's also easier if you have an assistant to measure you.  There are two different measurements you'll need to find the best fit in a tall boot. This first is the height. You'll want to sit in a chair with your knee at a 90 degree angle. The take a measuring tape and go from the floor to the middle of the back of your knee (remember that the average pair of field boots will drop anywhere from 1/2" to 1" depending on the leather). The second measurement you'll need is your calf measurement. You'll want to take the tape around the widest part of the calf and record this measurement. Size charts for each pair of boots is located to the right of the drop down menu on each product page.
