Additionally, MDC Intelligent Stirrups improve security due to ease of retrievability. Rubber covered hinged sides give a shock absorbing feel to your joints and provide the most comfortable ride on the market. You can feel confident that your performance will be a success knowing that the MDC Intelligent Stirrups will be there when you need them.
Other fabulous features of MDC Intelligent Stirrups include: easy stirrup retrieval, reduction or elimination of pain in the ankles, knees, hips, and back, reduction of leg burns, easy off side stirrup pick up, better balance due to proper and more consistent placement of the stirrup under the ball of the foot, and increased safety as the stirrup reduces the tendency of the stirrup close to the rider's foot during a fall.
World class riders using the MDC Ultimate Stirrup include: Beezie Madden, Debbie McDonald, Margie Engle, Tuni Page, Sue Blinks, Lauren Hough. Eventers Amy Tryon, Will Faudree and Will Coleman use MDC Comfort Stirrups for Dressage and the MDC Ultimate Stirrups for Show Jumping.
Olympic News: MDC had 11 Olympic Riders attend the Olympics in China, including the entire Dressage Team, the entire Pentathalon Team and Beezie Madden, Phillip Dutton and Amy Tryon.
Fitting Your Stirrups
Stirrups are measured by the actual opening allowed for the width of the foot. A standard rule of thumb is that when the foot is in the stirrup, there is room for your index finger to be placed on either side of boot. Generally, a ladies size 7 boot can be either a 4 1/2" or a 4 3/4." Very petite women and children use a 4 1/4." stirrup, while very small children may require a size smaller. Most men wear a 4 3/4", while men with very large feet or very wide feet wear a 5".
Remember that a properly fit stirrup allows for easier retrieval and in the event of a fall, more room to clear the stirrup before it has a chance to turn back on the released boot. MDC Ultimate Stirrups with the rubber hinge are "True Sized." That means that the opening for the foot is as advertised. A 4 3/4" stirrup has a 4 3/4" opening. Most other hinged stirrups do not take into consideration the rubber sleeve and actually measure an inside dimension of 4 1/2". Please order your true size in MDC Ultimate Stirrups.
